Runners and Athletes:

It is imperative that runners have strong quad and hip abductor muscles to support knees, hips and ankles. Proper alignment will help you run farther and faster. Stretching will keep you injury free. Regular Pilates classes will increase your range of motion and your endurance.

Office workers:

Sitting, looking down at a computer screen for hours has a detrimental effect on your neck, spine and posture. The combination of stretching and strengthening on the reformer leaves you feeling tall, strong and energised.

Recovery / Injury prevention

Most injuries are caused by muscle imbalances. Everybody has them. Even musculature is promoted through regular Pilates.

Reformer Pilates is great for rehab purposes as it allows the client to exercise in a horizontal plane of motion and not be vertically loaded and weight bearing through their legs. For example if a client has had knee surgery or a knee injury, this horizontal plane enables you to strengthen the muscles of the leg through a larger range of motion using a lighter resistance than their body weight, speeding up their recovery through controlled movement.

Pre and Post Natal Pilates

Pilates is excellent for pre or post natal mothers. It is a great way to stay connected to your changing body. It can help you create a girdle of support made from your pelvic floor and transverse abdominal muscles to strengthen your lower back facilitate the best delivery and return to normal as soon as possible. Always consult with your doctor when doing physical activity during your pregnancy.
